Amazon has made available for download new firmware packages targeted at some of its Kindle Fire tablets, namely versions 7.4.9, 8.4.9 and 10.4.9, compatible with the Kindle Fire HD 7", HD 8.9", and Kindle Fire 2nd Generation devices, respectively.

These new releases add support for the producer’s Prime Music Store, from where users are now able to purchase and listen various songs and albums, and update the e-mail application with a new look.

In addition to that, the e-mail app refresh button has been moved to the inbox view and now, in order to sync your e-mails with the server, you just have to swipe down from the edge of the inbox.

However, if you use a Gmail application on your device, the account will have to be re-authorized. To do so, you have to go to Settings, delete the Gmail account, and then re-add it by tapping the “Add Account” and following the steps displayed on-screen.

As for applying the new versions, download the appropriate .bin file for your Amazon Kindle model and transfer it to the root folder of its internal storage using a USB cable.

When done, simply disconnect the tablet from the computer, and go to Quick Settings → More → Device → About → Update Your Kindle. At this point, the tablet will recognize the new firmware and automatically initiate the update process.
