Intel has rolled out its 0042 BIOS package targeted at the DN2820FYKH Next Unit Computing (NUC) kit, which fixes the headless boot issue spotted in Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and resolves the keyboard disconnection problem during CentOS installation.

When it comes to the rest of the package, BIOS 0042 includes visual BIOS 2.2.8, UEFI revision 2.3.1, TXE firmware build 1.0.5.1120, as well as all versions that were present in Intel’s previous release, namely DN2820FYKH NUC BIOS 0041.

As for installing this new update, you should know that Intel, as always, has provided 4 downloadable packages that describe 3 different installation methods.

To be more specific, the recovery BIOS update file (FY0042.BIO) is able to perform a quick F7 BIOS flash, as well as recover the basic input/output system that was left in an unusable state.

Moving forwards, you can download an iflash BIOS archive (FYBYT10H.86A.0042.BI.ZIP), which can apply version 0042 if it is extracted onto a USB stick or CD drive, and the proper executable is run from a DOS environment.

Last but not least, the remaining two executables are compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems (one for each bit variant), and can flash the present update by running it from an appropriate OS.

Even though it seems easy, bear in mind that, once the installation has started, you mustn’t shutdown or reboot the NUC under any circumstances, as this might cause serious device malfunctions.

Therefore, download Intel DN2820FYKH NUC Kit BIOS 0042, carefully apply it on your NUC, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
