EVGA has made available new BIOS packages targeted at its Z97 FTW and Z97 Classified motherboards, namely versions 1.04 and 1.05, respectively, which resolve the PXE boot issue, improve the units’ overclocking ability and enhance the mouse compatibility.

In addition to that, these fresh releases fix a problem regarding the USB device wake from sleep state S5, resolve a system reset issue when LAN is disabled and BCLK is set to 125, and add CPU voltage auto table.

Moreover, the DVI to Analog compatibility problems are now history, the BCLK lock improper behavior after changing the DIMM or CPU is resolved, and the overall memory compatibility and performance are improved.

Besides the aforementioned changes, the FTW-related BIOS also removes the memory timing auto table error, and the 1.05 version resolves the boot failure encountered when exiting BIOS using the “ESC” key.

When it comes to installing these updates, the producer has provided several files within the downloadable archive that help you upgrade your BIOS either through the BIOS setup menu or using any Windows operating system.

Specifically speaking, if the Windows-method is preferred, simply get the .zip file, make sure you load the BIOS defaults, and close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade. Now, run the “update.bat” file, press “Y” to initiate the installation and allow the board to perform the update.

On the other hand, you can also copy the contents of the .zip file to a USB drive, connect the stick to the computer, and reboot and enter the BIOS menu. Now, navigate to Save & Exit → Select BIOS File, select and confirm the .bin file, and wait for the process to complete.

Either way, bear in mind that turning off or resetting the system while the upgrade is in progress can seriously damage the device. Simply wait for the computer to shut down, as this will announce the completion of the update process.

That being said, download EVGA Z97 FTW BIOS 1.04 or download EVGA Z97 Classified BIOS 1.05 depending on which device you own, follow the above-described steps, and upgrade your motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
