Merlin has rolled out a new firmware version suitable for ASUS’ RT-AC56, AC66, AC68, AC87, N16, and N66 router models, namely build 376.49.4, which is the 3rd software update released in less than a week.

In comparison, this present update resembles the previous AsusWrt-Merlin Custom Firmware 376.49.2 rather than the first firmware released this month (Merlin Firmware 376.49.0), which implemented a huge number of changes and improvements,.

To be more specific, build 376.49.4 fixes the OpenVPN Server that wouldn’t show Advertize DNS to Client option, issue which might have been encountered as a result of merging with GPL code 376_3677.

In addition to that, Merlin’s present release resolves a WAN page error spotted when entering a hostname or broken UPNP FAQ link.

Moreover, the bootloop event experienced by RT-AC87 routers when enabling Traditional QoS or any other features that disabled CTF has also been resolved. This conflict was a result of the “FA” being left enabled.

As for applying this update, the steps are the same as with any other official ASUS firmware upgrade: just download and extract a proper archive, and use the .trx file in your router’s dashboard to initiate the installation.

With this in mind, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 376.49.4 for your specific device model, apply it, and constantly check our website to be aware when a newer version is available.
