The present release fixes an OpenVPN server-related issue

Just now, Merlin has made available a new firmware update targeted at ASUS’ RT-AC56, AC66, AC68, AC87, N16, or N66 router models, namely version 376.49.2, which fixes some OpenVPN, DLNA, and DDNS-related problems.

Specifically speaking, DDNS couldn't be configured on the WebUI, OpenVPN server wouldn't allow anybody to edit user accounts (including the administrator), and the DLNA clients icon was missing for RT-N66 and AC66 devices.

These issues have now been fixed, and since AsusWrt-Merlin Custom Firmware 376.49.0 release is just two days apart, I assume that the aforementioned problems came along with the previous software update.

However, Merlin’s goal is to fix, improve, and stabilize ASUS’ original firmware (which it does) without changing the router’s interface, and not to provide faulty updates.

Therefore, if you intend to apply this build, then save and unzip the appropriate package for your router model, log into its administration page, and initiate the upgrade from the menu’s “Firmware Update” section.

Bear in mind that you mustn’t load backed up settings using an official firmware to Merlin’s custom release and vice versa, as this will improperly configure the device. Also, don’t forget that you can revert at any time by applying the appropriate software.

That being told, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.49.2, take into account all aspects described above, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available.
