Fujifilm X-T1 Camera Firmware 4.30

Changes:

- Using a flashgun in Bracketing / Continuous shooting: Optional flashguns can be used for bracketing and burst photography. When using the EF-X8, which is bundled with the X-T1, the flash fires in ISO, FILM SIMULATION and WHITE BALANCE BKT modes.
- Instant AF Setting in manual focus: Focus and exposure can be locked when the AF-L button is used in manual focus mode. You can shoot after locking AF and AE with your thumb.
- AF+MF operation with AF-L button: The AF-L button can be used to lock focus in AF+MF mode and you can adjust the focus more accurately using the lens's focusing ring.
- Focus zoom in AF+MF: The FOCUS ASSIST button can be used for focus zoom and you can focus using the lens's focusing ring with focus zoom activated.
- Additional Custom Display options: Functions have been added to the DISP. CUSTOM SETTING option in the setup menu.
- Additional Items: FOCUS FRAME / CONTINUOUS MODE / SHOOTING MODE / DUAL IS MODE / INFORMATION BACKGROUND / MOVIE MODE / FOCUS MODE / BLUR WARNING / SHUTTER TYPE
- The Fn7 Button: The movie-record button doubles as an Fn button (Fn7). Press and hold DISP/BACK to select what it controls.
- Supports focus limiter function for XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR: To be fully compatible with the lens, the new firmware supports focus limiter function for FUJINON XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 　R LM OIS WR.
- In AF-C mode, freeze will happen on certain conditions. (Solution for the issues of Firmware Ver. 4.20)

Firmware version checking procedure

- Turn off the camera and put the card in it.
- Turn the camera on pressing "DISP/BACK" button to check the current firmware version.(It is ver.1.00 in the picture below.)
- Turn off the camera
- If the version is the latest, the firmware update is not required.

Prepare the formatted memory card.

- A formatted memory card is required for the firmware update. If the card is formatted, all the files including protected files in the card will be erased. If you need the files, copy them to a PC etc. before formatting the card.
- Trun on the camera.
- Press "MENU/OK" button and select "FORMAT" in the SET-UP menu.
- Press the selector button(up) to select "OK" and press the "MENU/OK" button.
- Then, the format will start.
- Turn the camera off after the format is completed.

Download the firmware and copy it to the card.

- Put the formatted memory card to a card reader slot of your PC / Mac.
- Download the firmware for the camera.
- Check if there is no file with the same name in a destination of the firmware to save. If there is a file with the same name, a browser can automatically change the name of the firmware and a camera cannot　recognize the firmware correctly.
- Copy the downloaded file to the card.
- Take the card from the card reader slot after the copy is completed and put it to the camera.

Note for the firmware update.

- If the firmware update fails, the camera cannot work well. Make sure to follow the two things below.
- Use a fully charged battery. If the camera turns off during the firmware update, it won't work well.
- The time for the firmware update varies depending on the capacity of the firmware, but it is approx. 90 sec. Never turn off the camera and operate it during the firmware update.
- Once the firmware has been updated, some data of the previous version cannot be restored.

Put the card with the firmware in the camera and update it.

- Turn the camera on pressing "DISP/BACK" button. Then, press the "MENU/OK" button
- After confirming the item as [BODY] to update the camera body, press [OK] button.
- Press the [OK] button to go to next step.
- Press the [UP button] to select "OK".
- Press the [OK] button.
- Press the [OK] button.
- The firmware updating is started.
- It takes approximately 90 seconds for completing the firmware update.
- The firmware update has been successfully completed.
- Turn the camera off.
- Check the upgraded firmware.
- Format the card. The CF media used for the firmware update should be reformatted before you use it for taking pictures again.

About Digital Camera Updates:

Updating to a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your camera can improve the device’s overall performance and stability, resolve various issues, and add support for newly developed features or enhance existing ones.

On the other hand, downgrading the camera’s firmware can recover its functionality in the unlikely event the currently installed version is faulty or the device’s performance dropped after an upgrade. However, bear in mind that applying an earlier build might not always be possible.

It is recommended that changing the camera’s firmware be performed when the new release resolves an issue that your device has been encountering, or adds a new feature (or enhances an existing one) that could prove useful for you.

This process isn’t intended to be destructive, but still, it’s best to save all your personal data and configurations before applying a different firmware. Moreover, make sure that the battery is fully charged and don’t use the camera’s buttons while the installation is in progress.

When it comes to the update method, usually, you must copy the firmware file onto a compatible memory card, insert it into the camera, and browse from the menu to the device’s update section.
