Canon EOS C300 DAF Camcorder Firmware 2.1.5.1.00

Changes:

- Fixes a phenomenon in which the EOS C300 with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF feature activated and running Firmware Version 2.1.4.1.00 won’t display the following when set to continuous AF: WFM (waveform monitor), VS (vector scope), and Edge Mon. (edge monitor)

Note:

- Firmware Version 2.1.5.1.00 is only for EOS C300 cameras which have Firmware Version 2.1.2.1.00 - 2.1.4.1.00 with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF Feature Upgrade applied.
- If your camera's firmware is already version 2.1.5.1.00, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Once the camera is updated to the latest firmware version, it cannot be restored to a previous version.
- If the EOS C300 camera does not have Dual Pixel CMOS AF Feature Upgrade applied, please download Firmware Version 1.1.4.1.00.

IMPORTANT: Precautions for updating the firmware:

- If the firmware update is not performed correctly, the camera may stop working.
- Please be sure to carefully read the important points below, and perform operations in accordance with the following operating procedure.
- All camera settings will be reset when you perform the firmware update.
- It is not possible to revert the firmware back to a previous version after you have performed the firmware update.
- Please be absolutely sure NOT to operate the camera buttons or remove the camera’s power source during the firmware update. Doing so may cause the camera to malfunction.

Prepare an SD card to use for the firmware update

- Insert the SD card into the camera’s SD card slot.
- Slide the power switch to CAMERA.
- Press the MENU, and open the [Initialize Media] submenu, [ Other Functions] > [Initialize Media]
- Select [SD Card] and then press SET.
- Select [Complete] (complete initialization) and then press SET.
- Select [OK] and then press SET.
- When the confirmation message appears, press SET.
- Press the MENU, slide the power switch to OFF, and then remove the SD card from the camera.
- Insert the initialized SD card into a card reader or the computer’s SD card slot.
- To copy the data, drag & drop the [VKL4.FIM] update data to the [CANON] icon.
- After copying the data, open by the folder double-clicking the [CANON] icon.

Update the camera to the new firmware

- After inserting the charged battery pack into the camera, connect the camera to the power outlet using the compact power adapter.
- Insert the SD card into the camera’s SD card slot.
- Slide the POWER switch to CAMERA.
- Press the MENU, open the [Firmware] submenu, and then press SET. [ Other Functions] > [Firmware]. The firmware update confirmation screen will be displayed.
- When you select [OK] and then press SET, the firmware update will start.
- After the update ends, the camera will restart automatically, and a firmware update completion screen will be displayed.
- When you press SET, all settings will be reset and the [Date/Time] screen will appear. Set the date/time.
- Check that the firmware version has changed.
- Slide the POWER switch to OFF, and then remove the SD card.
- Make sure to initialize the SD card used for the firmware update before using it again. In addition, please delete the downloaded firmware from your computer.

Upgrading your camcorder to a different firmware version should improve the device’s overall performance and stability, resolve various issues, and add support for newly developed features or enhance existing ones.
