NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro OTA Firmware 2.0

This is the stock recovery OS for Software Upgrade 2.0 of the NVIDIA SHIELD ANDROID TV Pro (500GB version). Flash this image to your device to return the device to its stock state.

NOTE: On the SHIELD Android TV Pro 500GB edition, two steps of the flash process may take a very long time. The first time you apply a custom OS image, you must execute fastboot oem unlock which securely erases the user data partition and can take up to two hours. Additionally, each time the user data partition is flashed with fastboot flash userdata userdata.img it must be erased which can take up to an hour.

Download the ZIP file, unzip and follow the instructions. The Windows USB drivers for "fastboot" and "adb" are available separately: download NVIDIA SHIELD Family ADB USB Driver 1.06.2015.

23.976 Hz playback support:
- Allows advanced media enthusiasts to force the display refresh rate to 23.976 Hz for 23.976 Hz content like most Google Play movies, Netflix movies, and Blu-ray movie files. Enable this feature in Settings > Device > HDMI > Resolution. Note: This setting should not be used for playing games or for watching videos that display at higher refresh rates.

Overscan adjustment:
- Now you can adjust the image on the screen to perfectly fit your TV. Enable this feature in Settings > Device > HDMI > Adjust for Overscan. Note: This setting should only be used if your TV does not already support overscan adjustment.

Additional enhancements in Upgrade 2.0:

- Enhances the video playback experience for Netflix and YouTube.
- Adds the ability to transfer files from USB attached storage to a MicroSD card using the ES File Explorer app.
- Adds the option to manually turn off the SHIELD controller by holding the NVIDIA button on the controller for six seconds.
- Lowers audio latency for gameplay by 40ms compared to standard Android OS.

About Gaming Consoles:

Upgrading the firmware version on your gaming console might enhance the unit’s overall performance and stability, include workarounds for various issues, and improve different features (or add support for new ones).

In addition to that, if you have updated the firmware and it either faulty or has caused a drop in the overall performance of the device, applying a previous version is handy as regards recovering the console’s functionality. On the downside, downgrading the firmware isn’t always possible.

When it comes to applying a certain firmware, as this process is not without risks most of the times, it is recommended that this task be initiated by a power user in a steady power environment, such as the one provided by a UPS unit.
