The PC driver application must be written properly so that the GPIB RDIS,0 command is used to get CXYZ values from the monitor. After receiving a RDIS,0 command, the monitor sends CXYZ values in 4 different lines. The driver must use 4 different reads in order to get each line properly. If a timeout occurs in between any of the reads, the next read will get information that was meant to the last read. For instance, the second read should get an X value. If there is an unhandled timeout, the next read, instead of getting a Y value will get an X value. This problem can lead to out-of-sync RDIS,0 responses where the next RDIS,0 command will not start with a C value, but with the Z value from previous RDIS,0 commands. If enough timeouts occurs, the leftovers can cause the monitor to hang.
