Western Digital has just rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its TV Media Player, namely version 1.03.07, which removes support for certain applications and implements several fixes.

Specifically speaking, the present release removes the ABC iView, DailyMotion, Funspot, Flixster, Hulu Japan, Live365, MediaMarkt, RedBull, Saturn, YouTube Videos apps due to end of support for this product from the service providers.

However, WD has managed to resolve issues regarding device lockup when streaming videos, Youtube SSL v3 deprecation, SiriusXM app crashes during streaming, and Twitter login. Fixes are also added for Facebook app API errors and MyTV SSL-related issues.

In addition to that, version 1.03.07 also removes bugs that prevented SnagFilms from loading videos, delayed RSS feeds quit, or caused white screens when launching AOL ON. Moreover, the Video Playback Sequence option will now work correctly.

Last but not least, WD’s TV Media Player it will have no problems unlocking My Book HDD via IR remote from the first attempt, or recognizing My Book Duo when the drive is locked.

As for installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the content onto a formatted USB drive, and connect it to WD’s unit. The device should automatically detect if there is new firmware on the memory stick, but if it doesn’t, just go to HOME > Alerts.

Now, select the firmware upgrade icon, press Enter, agree with the installation, and wait patiently as the unit does its job. Once completed, the TV Media Player will automatically reboot.
