The new firmware update resolves battery discharging issue

Western Digital has made available a new firmware package developed for its My Passport Wireless storage model, namely version 1.06.06, which should resolve the issue with SD Card not being able to sync windows hidden file.

In addition to that, the producer also fixes the battery discharging problem with improved timing and added alert message when device is connected to AC power, and might include other minor fixes as well.

When it comes to installation, if you want to benefit from these changes, simply save and unzip the downloadable archive on your computer’s desktop, connect to the My Passport Wireless storage via Wi-Fi, and open its Dashboard UI.

Afterwards, go to Firmware Tab > Manual Update, click the “Update From File” button, and browse and select the newly-extracted .fin file. Now, confirm the upgrade process you are about to perform and allow the device to do its job.

However, even though it seems simple, make sure you install the new firmware with the AC power adapter connected or use a 50% charged battery, at least. Also, do not interrupt the upgrade in any way, as this can lead to serious malfunctions.

That said, download WD My Passport Wireless Storage Firmware 1.06.06, carefully apply it on your device, and enjoy these new changes. Also, check back with us often to be aware when a newer version is available for your unit.
