A few moments ago, Sony’s development team made available a new firmware package compatible with PlayStation 3 systems, namely version 4.81, which only improves the overall quality of the system performance.

When it comes to upgrading your PS3 system to this version, download the .PUP file, create a “PS3/UPDATE” path onto an FAT32-formatted USB stick, save the firmware there, and connect it to your console.

If all is performed properly, go to Settings → System Update → Update via Storage Media, and wait for firmware 4.81 to be found. Once located, the console will automatically initiate the upgrade process; make sure to give it permission to apply the update.

However, bear in mind not to interrupt this process by making use of the PlayStation’s buttons, removing the power cable or the storage unit, powering it off, or in any other way. Doing so might not only lead to malfunctions but also render the unit unusable.

Last but not least, once the upgrade finishes, make sure to go to Settings → System Settings → System Information and check to see if the new firmware has been successfully applied: a 4.81 system version should be displayed.

That said, download Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.81, carefully apply it on your gaming system, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
