Sony has announced new system software updates developed for its PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles, namely versions 9.51 and 22.01-05.02.00, respectively, which should improve the overall device performance once installed.

To do so, save the downloadable .PUP file using either a Windows or Mac OS, create a “PS4/UPDATE” (or “PS5/UPDATE”) path onto a FAT32-formatted USB stick and transfer the firmware there.

Afterward, insert the stick into your PlayStation system and make sure it’s turned off, press and hold the Power button until you hear a second beep to enter safe mode and go to Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device > OK.

Now, simply follow all instructions displayed on-screen as the console will guide you through the installation. However, bear in mind not to interrupt this in any other way, as it can not only lead to malfunctions but might render the unit unusable.

In addition to that, users also have the option to download and apply the “Re-Install” package that deletes all users, data, settings, and any other files found on the console.f
