Sony has rolled out its new 3.71 system software update compatible with the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV gaming consoles, which will ensure a better system performance quality compared to previous updates.

If you consider applying this release, regardless of which device you are about to upgrade, save the downloadable .PUP package, format a USB drive or memory card, create a “PSVITA/UPDATE” path on it and transfer the firmware file there.

Now, for PlayStation Vita, turn off the console, connect the newly-prepared removable drive, power on the device, and carefully follow the on-screen instructions, as the console will automatically guide you through the installation.

As for PS TV systems, make sure your gaming system is completely turned off, press and hold the power button for about 7 seconds (to enter safe mode), connect a controller, go to Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device, and insert the drive containing the firmware.

However, take into account that failing to complete this process successfully can lead to malfunctions or render the unit unusable. Also, interrupting the upgrade by cutting the power, rebooting/restarting the device, or removing the USB drive/memory stick can lead to similar problems.
