The new releases improve the cameras’ autofocus accuracy

Today, SIGMA has rolled out two new firmware versions compatible with its dp2 and dp3 Quattro camera models, namely 1.07 and 1.02, respectively, which improve the devices’ overall autofocus (AF) accuracy.

In addition to that, these releases also remove a bug that might have caused occasional camera freeze events when AF (autofocus) and MF (manual focus) modes were used one after another under certain conditions.

If we were to talk about the dp3 Quattro alone, this device benefits from an improved focus ring control in MF mode, as well as from a more convenient focus adjustment operation.

When it comes to upgrading to these new versions, first of all, you must check the device’s currently installed firmware and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching its latest one. To do so, just go to Menu → Information, and you should be able to see the version.

If all is OK, format an SD memory card using the camera you are about to upgrade, save the appropriate downloadable .bin package onto its root folder, insert it into the Quattro unit, and power on the device.

Afterwards, go to Menu → Firmware Update → Start Firmware Update, select the “Yes” option, wait for the new software to be applied, and remove the SD card upon completion (the camera will automatically turn off).

Therefore, download SIGMA dp2 Quattro Camera Firmware 1.07 or download SIGMA dp3 Quattro Camera Firmware 1.02, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the update, and enjoy your newly improved imaging unit.
