The newly-released update adds general performance stability

Today, Ricoh has outed a new firmware package developed for its Pentax K-S2, namely version 1.02, which implements general performance stability improvements and enhances the recording level setting function when an external microphone is used.

In addition to that, this release also improves the stability of the phase detection autofocus performance and resolves the rare event where processing DNG RAW files with PC software wouldn’t be properly converted.

With this in mind, if you intend to make use of these changes, first of all go to Menu > Set-up 4 > Firmware Info > Options, and make sure that your camera’s currently installed firmware isn’t newer or matching the present release.

If all is ok, save and extract the downloadable archive, transfer the “fwdc225b.bin” file onto a formatted memory card, insert it into your Pentax unit, and power on the device while pressing MENU so that the device can enter update mode.

Afterwards, simply follow all instructions displayed on screen for a complete and successful upgrade. Also, once completed, it would be a good idea to check the installed firmware once more in order to ensure that the new version has been applied properly.

That being said, download Ricoh Pentax K-S2 Firmware 1.02, apply it on your camera using the aforementioned steps, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
