Well known primarily for its Audio chipsets, Realtek has announced the availability of a new version of its High Definition Audio package, namely 6.0.1.8018, which might include small improvements regarding stability, performance, as well as sound quality.

Similar to earlier audio packages, the present release is provided by Microsoft on its Windows Update Catalog, and the available .cab file formats are compatible with the 32- and 64-bit architectures of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Anniversary Edition platforms.

If you intend to upgrade to this release, first of all, make sure your system OS is supported, and save and extract the downloadable cabinet (.cab) package on an accessible location such as your desktop.

Afterward, close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade, go to Device Manager, select the hardware device you want to update, and choose “Update Driver Software.”

Now, manually select the location of the new driver, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen. Also, don’t forget to give the wizard permission to perform a system reboot so that changes can take effect properly.

Last but not least, besides the files mentioned above, users can also download and install the same 8018 Audio build using an archive provided by Realtek. This package is compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 operating systems, both 32- and 64-bit variants.

That said, download Realtek HD Audio Driver 6.0.1.8018, carefully install the new version, perform a restart upon completion, and check our website as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
