The update adds DualSense Edge wireless controller support

Sony has released a new firmware version targeted at its latest PlayStation 5 gaming consoles, namely the 22.02-06.50.00 update, that adds DualSense Edge wireless controller support, as well as overall system performance improvements.

Therefore, if you intend to make use of this new release, first of all ensure your PS5 is currently running an older firmware version than the one listed above, and only afterward save the appropriate .PUP file.

To be clear, the upgrade package (approx. 1 GB) requires you to use a FAT32-formatted USB stick, create a “PS5/UPDATE” path on it, and save the downloadable PS5UPDATE.PUP file in the “UPDATE” folder using a PC or a Mac.

Afterward, just connect the drive to the console, start it in Safe Mode (press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep), select Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device > OK, and wait for the new firmware to be installed without erasing any user data or modifying settings.

As for the re-installation package (the one that installs a fresh copy of the 22.02-06.50.00 version), there is a specific file that helps you reinstall the PS5 console system software using the same steps described above (select “Reinstall System Software” instead of “Update System Software” when entering Safe Mode).

That said, download Sony PlayStation 5 Firmware 22.02-06.50.00, apply it, and always check our website to be up to speed with the latest releases.
