NVIDIA has announced the availability of a new Vulkan GeForce Graphics driver update, namely version 417.63 beta, which promises to improve pipeline creation performance when there is a cache hit and add several new extensions.

Specifically speaking, the current release adds VK_KHR_depth_stencil_resolve, VK_EXT_buffer_device_address, VK_EXT_memory_budget, VK_EXT_memory_priority (Windows only), VK_EXT_pci_bus_info extenstions.

Regarding supported GPUs, this release is valid for certain models of NVIDIA’s Quadro for desktops and notebooks, as well as for the Turing, Volta, GeForce 1000, GeForce 900, GeForce 900M, GeForce 800M, GeForce 700, GeForce 700M, GeForce 600, and GeForce 600M lineups.

As for the operating systems, the present update is compatible with the 64-bit variant of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 platforms. Moreover, there is a separate package targeted at Linux platforms (version 415.22.05).

When it comes to installation, first ensure your GPU model is supported by this release (check the description page to make sure of that), save the appropriate package compatible with your computer’s bit architecture, run it, and wait for the wizard to extract all files required for the upgrade.

Afterward, follow all on-screen instructions for a complete and successful installation. Also, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly.
