NVIDIA has pushed out a new GeForce graphics driver targeted at several of its GPU models, namely the 442.74 update, which promises to provide the latest performance optimizations, profiles, and bug fixes for DOOM Eternal, while also resolving the black screen seen in Red Dead Redemption 2 after switching windows with [ALT+TAB].

However, NVIDIA’s update might still experience flickering while playing Doom Eternal, crashes with World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, and other minor problems in certain games as described in the Release Notes below.

In terms of compatibility, the 442.74 release consists of 4 downloadable packages suitable for the 64-bit architecture of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 operating systems. Don’t forget that Windows 10 has two files available: one Standard and one DCH executable.

Moreover, all available files can be applied to both desktop and notebook configurations. However, do not try installing these packages on OSes other than the ones mentioned above (even if it might seem to work at first), as this can lead to various malfunctions.

Therefore, to apply this new version, save and run the appropriate executable for your system configuration, wait for all files required for the installation to be extracted, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen for a complete upgrade.

Last but not least, once finished, it would be a good idea to perform a reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly. If this task isn’t requested automatically, however, make sure to carry it out manually to avoid any unwanted problems.

That said, download NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Driver 442.74, follow all instructions highlighted above, and check back with us constantly to be aware when a newer version is available for download.
