NVIDIA has made available a new version of its Quadro graphics driver, namely 397.31, which is a QNF (Quadro New Feature) package that implements full support for the new Vulkan 1.1 API and more.

Specifically speaking, the current release passes Vulkan CTS (Conformance Test Suite) version 1.1.0.3 and includes developer preview for NVIDIA RTX ray tracing technology; RTX is compatible with Microsoft DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API on NVIDIA Volta GPUs.

When it comes to compatibility, version 397.31 is suitable for both desktop and notebook configurations that are powered by one of Microsoft’s 64-bit variants of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 platforms; 32-bit systems are no longer supported.

Therefore, if you intend to apply this package, just save the proper one for your device, run it, wait as the wizard extracts all files required for the installation, and follow all instructions displayed for a complete upgrade.

Last but not least, once completed, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly. If this task isn’t requested automatically by the wizard, make sure to carry it out manually to avoid any unwanted problems.
