NVIDIA has made available a new version of its GeForce graphics driver, namely 471.96, which adds support for Windows 11, CUDA 11.4, and 6 new G-SYNC Compatible displays, as well as updates scaling resolution in NVIDIA Image Sharpening.

In addition to that, the 471.96 build also fixes the higher DPC latency in 8-bit color mode (compared to 10-bit), resolves stability issues with Topaz Denoise AI, and makes sure the GPU doesn’t wake up while idle on Windows 11 notebooks (if graphics mode set to Hybrid).

Besides these additions, NVIDIA’s release also corrects NVDisplay.Ctainer.exe behavior, fixes a bug that lead to a blue-screen crash or reboot loop when two Samsung Odyssey G9 displays @ 240Hz are connected.

When it comes to compatibility, the current update is targeted at both desktop and notebook configurations powered by 64-bit variant of Windows 7, 8, 8.1. 10, or 11 platform.  Also, there are two packages available for Windows 10 and 11: one DCH and one Standard file.

With this in mind, if you intend to upgrade, simply save the proper one for your device, run it, wait as the wizard extracts all files required for the installation, and follow all instructions displayed for a complete upgrade.

Last but not least, once completed, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly. If this task isn’t requested automatically by the wizard, make sure to carry it out manually to avoid any unwanted problems.
