The new firmware release improves stability and performance

NVIDIA has provided the download links for its new SHIELD Tablet 8 Firmware release, namely version 3.1.1, which improves stability and performance, adds a security patch for Stagefright, and more.

Specifically speaking, this new release also updates the SHIELD wireless controller firmware, and implements various system optimizations and fixes, including battery performance and Netflix playback.

In order to be clear about the downloadable packages, NVIDIA’s files will allow owners to install a fresh (stock) 3.1.1 software upgrade on their SHIELD tablets sold inside (LTE US) and outside (LTE RoW) the USA, as well as on the SHIELD WiFi model.

Before considering an upgrade, first of all, you must understand that this process is quite difficult and puzzling, and it should only be performed when you have familiarized yourself with all the steps; an update failure can cause serious malfunctions or even render the device unusable.

Therefore, if you want to install this version, make sure the bootloader is unlocked and Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and FastBoot tools are accessible (part of the Android SDK).

Once these aspects have been cleared, save and unzip the appropriate downloadable archive, connect your SHIELD to the computer using a USB cable, and follow the same steps described in the previous NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Firmware 3.1.0 release.

That being said, download NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Recovery OS Firmware 3.1.1 for your device model, apply it, and check our website as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
