14 DAY TRIAL // Nikon has just announced the availability of the 3.00 firmware version targeted at its Z 6 and Z 7 digital mirrorless cameras, which promises to add support for ProGrade and Lexar CFexpress memory cards (Type B), and more.
This new firmware version implements support for the focus limit switch available on certain Z mount lenses, optimizes responsiveness of the switch to manual focus during rotation, and improves the functionality of subject-tracking AF.
In addition to that, build 3.00 corrects Viewfinder brightness when it is adjusted manually, fixes pairing issues with iOS devices running iOS 13, removes horizontal lines occasionally seen in photographs, and includes other changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.
If you have been encountering these issues, first ensure your camera’s currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release, and if all is ok, format a memory card using the device.
Now, save and run the appropriate package compatible with your computer’s platform (available for both Mac OS and Windows operating systems), and transfer the newly created “firmware” folder onto the memory card.
Afterward, insert the memory card into the camera and turn it on, select Firmware Version, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful installation. Once finished, format the memory card used in this process and check the currently installed firmware to make sure it reads version 3.00.
Bear in mind that removing the memory card/battery, turning off/rebooting the camera, making use of its buttons, or interrupting the upgrade in any way can lead to serious malfunctions.
