The update resolves the Zoom angle of illumination feature

Today, Nikon has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its SB-5000 TTL Flash unit, namely version 14.002, which removes a bug that prevented Zoom (angle of illumination) function from working properly at low temperatures.

In addition to that, the current release also fixes the phenomenon where AF-assist illuminator wouldn’t activate when pressing the shutter-release button halfway after a standby timer restart or camera turn.

Therefore, if you want to resolve these issues and upgrade Nikon’s SB-5000 TTL Flash, save and run the downloadable package, transfer the .bin file onto a formatted memory card, and insert it into the camera.

Don’t forget that the SB-5000 can be updated only when used along with one of Nikon's D5, D4S, Df, D810, D810A, D750, D500, D7200, D5600, D5500, D5300, D3400, or D3300 imaging units. Also, make sure that the camera’s firmware version is up to date.

That said, attach the flash unit to the camera, power the device on, go to Menu > Firmware Version > Update, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen for a complete upgrade. Once finished, turn off the camera and flash unit, and remove the memory card.

That said, download Nikon SB-5000 TTL Flash Firmware 14.002, apply it on your device, and enjoy these new changes. Also, check back with us as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
