The new firmware update fixes a camera freezing issue

Nikon has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its D5200 and D7100 digital cameras, namely version C:1.03, which reduces noise (horizontal lines) in movies shot at 1280×720@60p or 1280×720@50p.

In addition to that, both devices have also received a workaround for a camera freezing issue encountered when Clean image sensor option was used.

When it comes to the D7100 model alone, this unit’s display won’t be darken when images are viewed via the Playback button, its Viewfinder virtual horizon option gets fixed, and continued scrolling won’t cause the unit to freeze anymore (for certain languages).

As for installation, the process is the same for both models: save and run the appropriate file for your camera and operating system (available for Mac OS and Windows platforms), and format a memory card using the imaging unit you are about to upgrade.

Afterwards, transfer the .bin file onto the card’s root directory, insert it into the camera while turned off (make sure it has at least 50% battery), power on the device, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete upgrade.

Last but not least, once finished, it would be a good idea to remove the memory card and check the unit’s currently installed firmware to make sure the process has been successful. To do so, simply go to Menu > Setup > Firmware Version.

That being said, download Nikon D5200 Camera Firmware C:1.03 or download Nikon D7100 Camera Firmware C:1.03, apply the new version, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
