Today, Nikon has made available a new firmware package compatible with its COOLPIX S3600 imaging unit, namely version 1.2, which fixes a rare issue where the camera would freeze with the lens extended when the power was turned on.

Therefore, if you have been encountering this problem, now is the time to resolve it. However, first make it up to the setup menu and check the camera’s currently installed firmware version and ensure that it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save the appropriate package for your operating system (available for both Mac OS and Windows platforms), and run it in order to create a “firmware” folder that will contain the “firmware.bin” file.

Now, transfer the “firmware” directory onto a memory card that has been initialized by the camera, insert it into the appropriate slot, and turn on Nikon’s COOLPIX S3600 unit.

Afterwards, simply go to Setup > Firmware Version, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful upgrade. Also, once finished, it would be a good idea to confirm the installed version in order to make sure the process is complete.

However, even though it seems easy, bear in mind that interrupting the installation by removing the battery or memory card, using the device’s buttons, or in any other way might cause serious malfunctions.

With this in mind, download Nikon COOLPIX S3600 Camera Firmware 1.2 for your specific OS, follow all aforementioned instructions, and upgrade your imaging unit’s firmware to the latest.
