Realtek has announced the availability of a new Ethernet driver build, namely 0421.2016, which consists of several downloadable files compatible with both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 OSes, as well as Server 2008 R2 and 2012 platforms.

To be clear about the new files, the producer has provided a 7.099.0421.2016 version for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 OSes, an 8.045.0421.2016 package targeted at Windows 8, 8.1, and Server 2012 platforms, as well as the 10.008.0421.2016 driver suitable for Microsoft’s Windows 10.

When it comes to installation, first know that these files are valid for Realtek’s PCI Express Gigabit and Fast Ethernet adapters, as well as some of its PCI Gigabit Ethernet controllers (make sure to check the description page to see if your adapter is compatible).

As for the update process, after ensuring your network configuration is supported, save and unzip the appropriate package for your system configuration, and run the available setup file.

Afterwards, simply follow all instructions displayed for a complete and successful upgrade. However, don’t forget to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly.
