The versions restrict access from WAN to enhance security

ASUS has made available several new beta firmware packages targeted at some of its RT wireless router models, and it thus restricts access from WAN to enhance security, modifies Telnet default access interface, and adds support for the ASUS Router App.

To be clear about the present release, ASUS has provided firmware 9.0.0.4.380.2941 for its RT-N11P router, version 9.0.0.4.380.2695 for the RT-N18U model, as well as a 9.0.0.4.380.2928 update compatible with RT-N12 ver.D1, RT-N12+, and RT-AC52U devices.

However, don’t forget that all these new files are Beta updates that are provided “AS IS” and may or may not include bugs. Also, a reset is required in the event you consider upgrading your router.

Moving forward with the changes, you should know that ASUS has managed to fix CSRF, XSS, and CVE-2015-6949 vulnerabilities, as well as several buffer overflow issues, and improves IE11 and IE8 compatibility.

In addition to that, the updates allow users to paste passwords on login page, add Bandwidth Limiter in QoS, modify the network map client status, implement support for auto dynamic port changing of UPnP server when port conflicts appear, and include several other changes.

Still, bear in mind that not all changes apply to each of the targeted router models. The devices benefit from a specific changelog that is highlighted on its description page (you can view the Release Notes by following the links below).

That said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your router model, carefully apply it on the device, and check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
