Today, NETGEAR has announced the availability of a new firmware package developed for some of its switch models, namely version 6.0.1.18 compatible with GS728TP, GS752TP, and GS728TPP devices.

In terms of changes, this new release improves security to guard against cross-site-scripting attacks, corrects two typos in GUI page of VLAN membership, doesn't re-enable Voice VLAN after a reboot, and resolves GS752TP’s ports 9-48 that wouldn’t work properly in IEEE802.3at mode.

Moreover, the update removes the bug that prevented all 8 source ports from being configured for port mirroring (only 4 were accessible), as well as enables LLDP-MED by default.

If you apply the 6.0.1.18 firmware, doing so will also resolve the issue that led to random switch reboots when making calls using certain PoE IP phones after enabling auto-VoIP.

Last but not least, NETGEAR has managed to fix the event where the switch couldn’t provide PoE power to attached PD (Powered Device) if connected to another PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment).

However, bear in mind that upgrading your switch firmware should be carefully performed, as this process can lead to various malfunctions if it isn’t carried out properly.

That said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes the device model, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and apply it on your unit. Also, check back with us constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
