The new firmware release fixes SOAP security issue

NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package compatible with its dual-band wireless router, namely version 1.0.3.12, which fixes the SOAP security issue, Kcode NetUSB vulnerabilities, as well as the router’s port forwarding capabilities.

In order to enjoy these new changes, first of all you should find out the R6250 currently installed firmware version (log into its administration page), and make sure it isn’t newer or matching this release.

Now, if all is OK, save and unzip the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between your router and a computer, log into its dashboard once more (username and password should be required), go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, and click the “Browse” button.

Afterwards, simply navigate and select the newly unzipped .img file, click “Upload,” and wait for your router to do its job.

Bear in mind that, while upgrading (progress bar is filling up), you mustn’t reboot/power off either the router or the computer, remove the Ethernet cable, or interrupt the process in any way. Doing so might cause various malfunctions that you would rather avoid.

With this in mind, download NETGEAR R6250 Router Firmware 1.0.3.12, and carefully apply it on your wireless unit. Also, check our website as often as possible in order to be aware when newer versions are available for your device.
