NETGEAR has made available a new firmware update targeted at its Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band WiFi Router, namely version 1.0.1.4, which adds support for ReadyCloud feature, as well as for the Access Point (AP) mode detection function.

In addition to that, the current release includes IPv6 6rd compatibility and resolves some issues encountered while using Windows 10 Edge or Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) web browsers to configure the router.

With this in mind, if you consider applying this firmware, then log into the unit’s administration page, go to the currently installed software version, and check if it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save and unzip the downloadable archive, make sure the router is connected to the computer via an Ethernet cable, and go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Now click the “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly extracted .chk file, click upload, and agree with the next dialogs.

Bear in mind that, during the installation, you mustn’t power off the computer/router or remove the Ethernet/Power cable as this would cause serious device malfunctions. Also, don’t perform the upgrade over wireless, as this technology tends to disconnect randomly.

That said, download NETGEAR R7900 Router Firmware 1.0.1.4, take into account all aspects mentioned above, apply the new version, and check our website as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
