The release fixes a security issue regarding Kcodes NetUSB

Just now, NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package suitable for its R6300v2 wireless routers, namely version 1.0.3.30, which includes support for Traditional Chinese language and fixes the Kcodes NetUSB security issue.

Thus, if these changes comply with your needs and you intend to upgrade to this release, first of all, check the router’s currently installed firmware and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching the present update.

If all is OK, save and unzip the downloadable package, establish a wired connection between your computer and the router, and log into its administration page (username and password must be requested).

While there, it would be a good idea to back up all settings that have been changed from the default values, as you might need to re-enter them manually after applying the new firmware.

Now, go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, click the “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly extracted “R6300v2-V1.0.3.30_10.0.73.chk” file, hit “Upload,” and wait patiently for the device to do its job.

Bear in mind that removing the Ethernet/Power cable from either devices, closing the web browser, or interrupting the installation process in any way can cause serious malfunctions or even render the wireless unit unusable.

With this in mind, download NETGEAR R6300v2 Router Firmware 1.0.3.30, apply it on your wireless unit, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
