The new firmware release adds support for Arlo camera

NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package developed for its R7000 Nighthawk wireless router, namely version 1.0.6.28, which fixes a bug that prevented port forwarding from using port 1237.

In addition to that, the current release resolves the issue where Kwilt binary cannot be downloaded in certain situations, as well as the one in which MTU isn’t restored after disabling IPv6.

Last but not least, with this firmware, owners will have the ability to set up their R7000 unit as an Arlo base station and connect an Arlo camera directly to the router without an extra base station.

Therefore, if you intend to make use of these changes, get and unzip the downloadable archive, and log to the router’s administration page using a wired connection. Also, make sure to save the settings that you have changed from the default values, as they will be required after the upgrade.

Now, go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade > Browse, navigate and select the .chk from the newly created folder, click the “Upload” button, and wait as the firmware is transferred and applied to the router.

That said, all that is left to do is to download NETGEAR R7000 Router Firmware 1.0.6.28, and apply it to the Nighthawk device. Also, check out our website as often as possible to be the first who knows when a new firmware is available for your unit.
