MikroTik has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at quite all of its products, namely version 6.39 RC 72, which adds an option to specify “interface-list” in PPP/Profile, as well as a warning in PPPoE client/server when configured on a slave interface.

In addition to that, this release fixes LLDP discovery that didn’t parse IPv6 addresses correctly, adds missing “license limit exceeded” log entry and an “use-ipsec=required” option, and makes sure the L2TP server keeps “use-ipsec=yes.”

Moreover, compatible devices will be able to use the “Caller-id-type” function to forward calling station number to RADIUS on authentication, as well as multiple L2TP tunnels (not sessions) between the same endpoints.

Firmware 6.39 RC 72 also implements all improvements, fixes, and other changes included in previous updates as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to supported architectures, MikroTik has provided its users with separate update packages suitable for ARM, PPC, MIPS-BE, x86, Tile, MMIPS, and SMIPS variants.

As for installation, it would be a good idea to check your device’s user manual to make sure you use the correct update method. Also, bear in mind that interrupting the upgrade in any way or trying to apply an incorrect firmware can lead to serious device malfunctions.

With this in mind, download MikroTik RouterOS Firmware 6.39 RC 72, apply it on your device, and come back as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
