Microsoft has rolled out new cumulative firmware and driver update packages targeted at its Surface Studio and Pro 3 tablets, namely version April 2017, which update certain drivers that improve the devices’ overall stability and usability.

Specifically speaking, the present release enables the Wake On Voice feature from Modern Standby via the new 6.0.1.8061 Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) driver. However, this functionality is only suitable for Microsoft Surface Studio Systems.

When it comes to Surface Pro 3 tablets, this April 2017 update installs the 38.12.70.0 Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware that improves stability and performance when you change between power states.

As for installation, know that this task can be carried out either automatically via Microsoft’s Windows Update service or manually by downloading and installing the package.

If the first method is desired, take into account that not all Surface owners will receive this new firmware at the same time, and you might need to wait for this release to reach your tablet. As for the other method, simply save, extract, and install all files on your device.

However, do not forget that the present firmware is only targeted at the Surface units mentioned above. Also, it would be a good idea to reboot your device manually (if not requested automatically), to ensure all changes take effect properly.

That said, download Microsoft Surface Studio Firmware April 2017 or download Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Firmware April 2017, install it, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
