Linksys has made available a new firmware package developed for its EA8500v1 wireless routers, namely version 1.1.4 build 173045, which adds roaming enhancements when used along with the Linksys RE7000 Wi-Fi range extender.

In terms of installation, first save the downloadable file appropriate for your device (there are two files suitable for the US and Other regions), log into your router’s dashboard using the username and password, and go to Connectivity.

Now, hit “Choose File” button under the Firmware Upgrade section, navigate and select the newly saved .img file, click the “Start” button, and wait patiently as the device does its job.

An important aspect that you should take into account is that routers running version 1.1.4.168206 or older should be first updated to Linksys EA8500v1 Firmware 1.1.4.169978 before installing this release.

Moreover, bear in mind that, during this process, you mustn’t power off/restart the router, or remove its Ethernet/Power cable. Doing so can lead to various malfunctions and can even render the wireless unit unusable.

Last but not least, upon completion, the wizard will request your permission to restart the router so that all changes can take effect properly. After that, the Wi-Fi Account will display a “Firmware update complete” message meaning the process is successful.

That said, download Linksys EA8500v1 Router Firmware 1.1.4.173045, carefully apply it on your unit, and constantly check our website to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
