Just now, Leica has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its SL (Typ 601) digital camera model, namely version 2.0, which enables exposure compensation via top and rear dials, and improves Autofocus, precision, and tracking.

In addition to that, Leica adds new electronic (up to 1/16000sec) and manual (up to 30min) shutter speeds, and improves 1 Point AF: 529 AF-Points, JPEG image quality, white balance, time code, and power saving during long exposure and interval shots.

If applied, the 2.0 firmware also improves TTL/HSS mode, adds full support for all Leica flashes, includes additional Noise reduction options for JPEG files, and allows changing the first letter of file name.

Moreover, you should know that M- and R-lenses list will be customizable, an option for sensitivity and a new icon for live view are added, the minimum ISO setting is lowered, Leica Remote Control SCL4 can be used to start video recording, and several other changes will be implemented.

In terms of installation, first charge the battery to 100%, format an SD card using the camera, save the downloadable firmware file, and transfer it onto the root directory of the memory card. Also, make sure to back up user profiles, as the upgrade will override your personal settings.

Afterwards, go to MENU > SETUP > Camera Information > Firmware, press “Start Update” and agree with the process. Once completed, make sure to reboot the camera, and format the memory card.

That said, download Leica SL (Typ 601) Camera Firmware 2.0, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and constantly check our website to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
