The update improves image quality in low ISO settings

Leica has announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with its Q Typ 116 digital camera, namely version 1.1, which improves the unit’s overall image quality in low ISO settings and fixes a few issues.

Specifically speaking, this new update corrects exposure in digiscoping mode after switching off and then back on, and enhances the Live View feature in monochrome mode in combination with AF tracking.

After upgrading to this version, Live View will have the ability to display a monochrome image. However, for proper focusing, the camera will switch to color when pressing the shutter button halfway.

In terms of installation, simply save the new firmware on your computer, transfer it onto a formatted SD memory card, make sure your camera is fully charged and completely off, and insert the SD card.

Now, simply power on the imaging unit while pressing the video release button, wait for the firmware update screen to appear, hit ok, and watch as the camera does its job; the process takes about 90 seconds to complete.

Afterwards, reboot Leica’s Q camera, remove the memory card used in the upgrade, and you’re done. However, while installation is in progress, do not turn off/reboot the device, remove the SD card, or press any of its buttons; doing so can seriously damage your camera.

With this in mind, download Leica Q (Typ 116) Camera Firmware 1.1, carefully apply it to your device and enjoy the new changes implemented by this release.
