The new firmware release adds power save mode feature

Just now, Leica has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at its M-D (Typ 262) digital camera, namely version 1.0.0.4, which adds Power Save mode feature so that the camera will automatically turn off after 10 minutes if unused.

If you want to benefit from this change, first of all, make sure your camera’s current firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release, and only afterwards save the downloadable file. Also, charge the camera’s battery to be able to initiate the upgrade.

In addition to that, since applying a newer version will delete all user profiles, it would be a good idea to back up all important settings and files stored on your camera.

After the .FW file was saved, transfer it onto a formatted memory card (must be initialized using the camera), safely disconnect it from your computer, and insert it into the unit’s appropriate slot.

Now, simply turn on the camera while holding the function button, and the process will begin automatically. Once completed, power off the unit, remove the memory card, and make sure to format it once more.

Even though it all seems easy, it is highly recommended that you don’t turn off the camera or remove its lens/battery/SD memory card during the installation. Doing so can lead to serious malfunctions and can render the camera unusable.

That said, download Leica M-D (Typ 262) Camera Firmware 1.0.0.4, apply it using the steps mentioned above, and constantly check our website as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
