Intel has just made available a new USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller driver, namely version 4.0.0.36, which now includes support for its 6th-generation Core processors and 100 series chipset family.

In addition to that, the present release also maintains compatibility with Intel’s 8, 9, C220, and C610 chipset family series, 4th- and 5th-gen Core CPUs, Pentium and Celeron (N- & J- Series) processors, as well as with its Core M unit.

When it comes to valid operating systems, besides the aforementioned components that your computer must contains, it also must be powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 platform (either bit variant), or one of its Small Business Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 OSes.

However, bear in mind that all of the aforementioned devices are suitable for Windows 7, but only the producer’s C220 and C610 chipset family series are compatible with the Server 2008 platforms.

As for package content, if you apply Intel’s present USB 3.0 update, it will also install the USB 3.0 monitor, root hub driver, and host controller switch (besides the obvious USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller driver).

Considering all of the above-mentioned aspects, simply make sure your system configuration is valid for this release, save and unzip the downloadable archive, run the available setup file, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen.

That being said, download Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver 4.0.0.36, apply it on your computer, and don’t forget to perform a system reboot upon completion. Also, check back with us as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
