Intel has made available a new BIOS package compatible with some of its NUC models, namely version 0053 compatible with the NUC5CPYH, NUC5PPYH, and NUC5PGYH NUC kits, which includes several changes.

Specifically speaking, the new update allows the use of alternative wireless cards, fixes SMBIOS system slot information issue, resolves a problem where NULL is used as a user password, and removes the bug that prevented After Power Failure from enabling.

In addition to that, the BIOS updates CPU microcode, changes the operating system shutdown temperature limit to 115° C, and fixes an issue where the Wi-Fi Dynamic Regulatory Solution would remain disabled in certain situations.

When it comes to installation, the producer has provided several downloadable files describing three different flashing methods: Recovery, iflash, and Express BIOS Update procedures.

The Recovery file is used for an F7 BIOS Update technique, whereas the iflash-related archive can apply version 0053 only from a USB or CD drive, and only through a DOS command prompt.

As for the 2 Express BIOS Update executables, if you intend to use them, you must run these packages directly from a Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 platform (a file for each bit architecture).

Either way, while installing, make sure not to turn off/reboot your NUC, remove the power cable, or interrupt the process in any way. Doing so can cause serious device malfunctions and might even render the device unstable.

With this in mind, from the list below, follow the link that best describes your NUC model, take into account all aspects highlighted above, and constantly check our website to know when a newer version is available.
