Intel has made available a new Solid State Drive Firmware Update Tool, namely version 2.1.6, which updates its SSD 750 series  firmware and bootloader revisions to 8EV101F0 and 8B1B0133, respectively.

To be more specific, Intel's SSD 750 series includes the 1.2 TB and 400 GB models (either 1/2 Height or 2.5in PCIe 3.0), as well as its 800 GB 1/2 Height and 2.5in PCIe 3.0 x4 drives.

In terms of changes, the current update tool will add NVME IO Queue Metrics and Secure Erase Command Monitoring log page support and will resolve the issue where the drive is entering disable logical mode after frequent, repeated OS reboots.

Moreover, the SSD 750 series will receive an updated Secure Erase Command User Data Erase option, sequential read performance improvements, product health enhancements, as well as a fix for 4k+DIF read errors (after a format) when using Intel SPDK.

In addition to that, besides the changes mentioned above, the present release includes all prior changes targeted at currently supported Solid State Drives, as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, first save the downloadable .iso or zip file (the zip includes an additional User Guide), back up your SSD, turn off Drive Password Protection, and burn the ISO to a blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Now, boot from the newly-prepared CD/USB drive, accept the License Agreement to continue, select the SSD you want to upgrade, hit the Update button (or click Update All), and wait patiently for the installation to finish.

As for recommendations, before starting the installation, it would be a good idea to backup your important data just to be safe, make sure the system is plugged into AC power (just for notebooks), and close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade.

With this in mind, download Intel SSD Firmware Update Tool 2.1.6 and carefully follow the steps mentioned above to enjoy the benefits of this new release.
