Owners can now use their GoPro with the Rechargeable Battery

GoPro has announced the availability of new firmware packages developed for its HERO5 Black, HERO6 Black, and HERO (2018) action cameras, namely versions 02.60 02.70, 02.10, and 01.10, respectively, which allow owners to use their GoPro unit with the Rechargeable Battery.

Moreover, the 02.60 firmware also improves first-time use experience and reliability of QuikStories transfers. Also, take into account that HERO (2018) users must update their firmware using the original battery pack to make use of this new feature.

If you want to make use of these changes and consider installing the current release, save and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the newly-created “UPDATE” folder onto a formatted microSD card, and safely remove it from your computer.

Bear in mind that, when preparing the update card, you mustn’t rename the extracted folder or drag it to a folder on the memory card. Doing so will prevent the installation from being initiated.

Now, make sure the camera is powered off, insert the memory card into the GoPro unit, and turn on the device. Once it boots up, the GoPro camera will automatically cycle through several beeps, reboot once, and if all has been done properly, it should show an “UPDATING” message on its display.

Finally, upon completion, you will be able to read an “UPDATE COMPLETE” message on your camera’s display. Still, if you get a “Camera Update Failed” error, remove and re-insert the unit’s battery, restart the whole process, and hopefully you won’t receive that message again.

That said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your GoPro unit, apply it on your camera, and enjoy the new changes that this release brings about.
