GoPro, well known for its action cameras that allow owners to test their limits, has announced the availability of a new firmware package developed for its latest HERO6 device, namely version 02.01.

This new update improves Video Stabilization by making it look more natural, upgrades auto exposure to reduce blur in medium and low light shots, and fixes frame corruption bug in 1080p120 videos.

In addition to that, it also enhances low light performance, reduces purple and blue fringing in videos, lowers color distortion effect, and (if needed) turns off HDR to prevent noise (in low light) and blur (if there’s too much movement).

Regarding installation, simply save and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the newly-created “UPDATE” folder onto a formatted memory card, and safely remove it from your computer. Afterwards, power off your action camera, insert the SD card and turn the unit back on.

Now, the device will automatically cycle through some beeps, reboot once, and if all is OK, it should display an “UPDATING” message on its screen.

Finally, if completed and the “UPDATE COMPLETE” message is displayed, make sure that you remove and format the memory card to avoid any problems. Also, if you get a “Camera Update Failed” error, remove and re-insert the unit’s battery, and restart the whole process.

With this in mind, download GoPro HERO6 Camera Firmware 02.01, follow all steps described above to apply it to your device correctly and enjoy the changes brought by this new release.
