Convergent Design has provided its Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q, Odyssey7Q+, Apollo, and Apollo Option owners with a new firmware package, namely version 2017.06.1706, which adds Avid DNxHD .MOV and HD DNxHD .MOV support, and several other changes.

Specifically speaking, the recorders can now configure Timecode window settings, choose 2 or 8 Channel Audio in various record modes, as well as record RAW in CinemaDNG with the Panasonic Varicam LT.

In addition to that, this new firmware also improves Voltage Display Accuracy, Dual 6G SDI compatibility, Playback Scrubbing artifacts, Playback Quality with all Apple ProRes recordings, Source Naming, and Detection of 4K 50/60p signals.

Moreover, Convergent Design manages to resolve rare random touch issues encountered with Canon RAW and ARRI RAW, fix problems associated with Computer Generated Images and Samsung 850 EVO drives, and add a few other changes highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, first backup all important data, format the SSD you are about to use, save and extract the archive from within the downloadable .zip file, copy all content onto the drive, and insert it into the imaging unit.

Afterward, simply turn on the recorder, and follow all displayed instructions for a complete and successful installation. Upon completion, press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, and make sure to remove the SSD and format it using both the computer and the recorder.

That said, download Convergent Design Firmware 2017.06.1706, carefully apply it on your recorder, and enjoy your newly improved device. Also, constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
