The present firmware release implements a new Extender GUI

NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package compatible with its WN3000RPv3 wireless range extender, namely version 1.0.2.24, which implements a new a beautiful Graphical User Interface or GUI.

Even though this is the only change the current firmware makes, it still could be a good idea to upgrade and check out the new interface, as the installation process isn’t quite hard.

Therefore, if you intend to apply version 1.0.2.24, first of all, make sure to establish a wired connection between the extender and your computer to avoid any wireless-related issues, and save the downloadable package.

Afterwards, unzip the archive on your storage, log into the device’s administration page using a web browser, head to Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade, click on the “Browse” button, and navigate and select the newly extracted .img file.

Now, hit “Upload,” and wait patiently while the device transfers and installs the new firmware. Also, do not remove the Ethernet/power cable from neither units, do not reboot or power them off, or interrupt the upgrade process, as this can lead to various malfunctions.

In addition to that, NETGEAR’s extender should reboot by itself once the installation finishes, and after it powers back up, it’s recommended to check the current firmware version in order to make sure the process has been successful.
