The new releases improve the devices’ overall usability

Just now, FiiO has rolled out four new firmware packages developed for its X1, X3 2nd Gen, X5 1st Gen, and X5 2nd Gen audio players, namely versions 1.6, 1.4, 2.6, and 1.2, respectively. These new releases improve sensitivity and consistency response for the scroll wheel, and more.

Specifically speaking, the X1’s 1.6 firmware fixes the issue where you couldn’t load the cover art for certain files, while the 1.4 update for FiiO’s X3 also adds workarounds for DFF files playability.

Besides these changes, the X5 2nd generation player also receives fixes for the issue where owners experienced blue screen crashes when trying to listen to songs in overly long file names or paths.

Now, considering the X5 1st gen unit alone, besides the scroll wheel response improvements, this device benefits from a different changelog.

To be clear, the device gets gapless playback enabled and is now able to play through folders properly, read genre tag of AAC files correctly, and parse all CUE sheets. Also, genre name won’t be read incorrectly if blank spaces are front of the album name of a song.

Last but not least, the producer’s latter player will have the ability to load the cover info for all MP3 files, and receive various other bug fixes in line with those made for the X5 2nd gen.
