The new firmware release improves overall system stability

Microsoft has made available the download links for the February 2016 cumulative firmware and driver update packages targeted at its Surface Book and Pro 4 devices, which improve overall system stability.

Specifically speaking, this update installs Realtek’s 6.0.1.7734 HD Audio (SST) package, and Intel’s ME (11.0.0.1202), MEI (11.0.0.1176), and Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller and OED (8.20.0.877) drivers.

In addition to that, Intel also improves stability during power state transitions via its 1.1.0.226 Precise Touch Device update, as well as auto-rotation through the 30.63.1603.5 Serial IO GPIO Host Controller and Serial IO I2C Host Controller version.

When it comes to graphics, Intel’s 20.19.15.4364 HD Graphics 520 package enhances display stability and battery life, while the 8.20.0.745Display Audio driver ensures the aforementioned version runs smoothly.

Last but not least, the present release includes a new Surface UEFI package (104.1085.768.0) that increases battery life, and updates the Surface System Aggregator Firmware for both devices in order to improves accuracy of battery status and battery life during sleep.

As for installation, make sure to download the appropriate file suitable for your Surface model, install it on your device, and perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly.
