MikroTik has made available a new firmware package targeted at all of its routers, switches, access points, and other devices, namely version 6.38 RC 12, which allows users to create a DHCP-server on a slave interface, and more.

Specifically speaking, this release fixes a kernel failure spotted on switch reset/reboot, makes NAT rule dst-port visible again for Walled Garden, allows executing concurrent info commands, and optimizes Ethernet packet processing on low loads.

In addition to that, the producer improves static DNS entry, displays power consumption on devices with voltage and current monitors, makes sure keepalive values are exported properly, and implements several other fixes and improvements as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, first of all, make sure to get the proper downloadable package for your device architecture, as MikroTik has provided different files for each of its Tile, x86, MIPS-BE, SMIPS, ARM, PPC, and MMIPS product types.

Afterwards, connect to your unit using Windbox, copy the .npk file onto its root file menu directory, and wait for the upload to finish. Upon completion, just reboot the unit and check the currently installed version to ensure it has been successfully applied.

Taking into account all aspects mentioned above, carefully download MikroTik RouterOS Firmware 6.38 RC 12 for your particular configuration, upgrade it to the latest software version, and enjoy the new changes this release brings about.
